Verbena bonariensis
Purple Top
Rose-violet flowers bloom all summer to frost giving long lasting color to the garden.
Looks great massed to form a sea of blooms dancing with butterflies or when allowed to mingle with other perennials or shrubs.
If left unpruned, the long stems sway in the breeze for a very nice see through effect; cut back it will take on a compact shrublike appearance.
Full sun. Ht 3-4'. Reseeds in favorable conditions. Deadhead or allow for new seedlings. I personally like the way it scatters here and there about the garden.
