Eryngium yuccifolium
Rattlesnake Master
Creamy white ball shaped flower heads on 3-4' sturdy
stalks in summer over attractive 3' wide mounds of blueish yucca-like
spiked foliage. Good native for drier areas but does equally well in moist
soils. Found in tall grass prairies, Rattlesnake Master looks naturally
good with coneflowers, liatris, grasses and other prairie plants. The
common name comes from an old belief that the plants could cure
rattlesnake bites or even keep away the snakes themselves. Flowers dry
well for arrangements. Full sun. Height 3-4'. Spread 2-3'.
