Baptisia sphaerocarpa
Yellow Wild Indigo
This plant has been a long time favorite of mine. It never fails to please me from the first days of spring when the young shoots push out of the soil to the fresh blue-green foliage bursting into a riot of bright yellow flowers in May retreating to round squeezable pods and finally resting for the summer as a well rounded, fuss free glad to be there shrub-like perennial. Come fall, the pods have hardened, ready for clipping and adding to arrangements.
Full sun-part shade, 3’x3’, deer resistant.
