Eragrostis spectabilis
Purple Love Grass

The flowers of this grass float over green foliage late summer-fall in a light airy purple haze creating a soft texture to the garden. This genus gets the name Love Grass from the middle ages when ladies in long dresses would walk through the fields and the flower panicles would stick to their dresses. The flowers would work their way up the dress and tickle the women's legs. Full sun. Height 18". Will spread by seed but looks good in masses anyway. Not long lived so you may want to let it seed a little. Try in containers too! Native to the Eastern US.
